Chat GPT - What's the hype?
In honour of Microsoft’s recent investment in OpenAI, we decided to create this month’s insight using only ChatGPT…
Initially we wanted to spend some time writing a piece about the upcoming Windows 10 EOL and soon-to-be forced, MFA number matching.
But instead, we decided to get ChatGPT to do it for us – so we asked it two questions.
Hi Chat GPT, can you write 500 words about Windows 10 End of Life and why it’s important to upgrade to windows 11?
“Windows 10 was first released in July 2015 and has since been the most widely used operating system for personal computers. However, Microsoft will officially end support for Windows 10 in 2025, which means that the company will no longer release security updates or technical assistance for the operating system. This is known as the “End of Life” (EOL) for Windows 10.
It is important to note that once Windows 10 reaches EOL, it will become increasingly vulnerable to security risks and malware. This is because Microsoft will no longer release updates to fix vulnerabilities or patch security holes. This means that users who continue to use Windows 10 after EOL will be at a higher risk of data breaches and other security issues.
In addition to security risks, users who continue to use Windows 10 after EOL will also miss out on new features and improvements. This can lead to a less efficient and productive experience for users, as well as compatibility issues with newer software and hardware.
The best way to avoid these issues is to upgrade to Windows 11 before the EOL date. Windows 11 is the latest version of the operating system, and it offers a number of new features and improvements over Windows 10. These include:
A redesigned Start menu that makes it easier to find and access apps and settings
– A new taskbar that allows you to organize and access apps more easily
– Improved support for touch and pen input
– A new Snap Layouts feature that allows you to easily organize and arrange multiple apps on the screen
– Improved security features, including a built-in antivirus and firewall
– Improved support for newer hardware and software
Upgrading to Windows 11 will not only help protect against security risks, but it will also improve your overall computing experience. It will make your computer faster, more efficient, and more productive. Additionally, Windows 11 also supports all the features that Windows 10 does, like Cortana (the virtual assistant), Xbox integration, and the Microsoft Edge browser.
In conclusion, Windows 10 End of Life is an important milestone that is approaching quickly. It is important to upgrade to Windows 11 before the EOL date to avoid security risks and take advantage of new features and improvements. This can help ensure a more efficient, productive and secure computing experience. It will be a good idea to make the upgrade to Windows 11 before the end of October 2025.”
Nice response (a bit bland bit we’re happy with it) – we moved onto the second question.
Hi Chat GPT, why is Microsoft forcing MFA matching on M365 accounts and what are the benefits?
“Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is an important security measure that helps protect against unauthorized access to sensitive information. Microsoft’s decision to force MFA matching on M365 accounts is a good idea for several reasons:
1. Extra layer of security: MFA adds an additional layer of security to an account by requiring a user to provide two or more forms of identification. This makes it much more difficult for hackers to gain unauthorized access to an account, even if they have obtained the password.
2. Protects against phishing attacks: Phishing attacks are a common way for hackers to gain access to user’s credentials. MFA provides an extra level of protection against these attacks by requiring an additional form of identification, such as a code sent to a phone or an app, which the attacker would not have access to.
3. Reduces risk of account takeover: Account takeover is a serious problem, especially for business accounts. MFA helps to prevent account takeover by making it much more difficult for hackers to gain unauthorized access to an account.
4. Meets compliance requirements: Many industries and organizations have compliance requirements that mandate the use of MFA. By forcing MFA on M365 accounts, Microsoft is helping organizations meet these requirements and avoid potential fines.
5. Easy to use: MFA is easy to use and does not require any special technical knowledge. Users can easily set up MFA on their own and can choose from a variety of authentication methods, such as text message, phone call, or app-based authentication.
In conclusion, Microsoft’s decision to force MFA matching on M365 accounts is a good idea as it provides an extra layer of security, protection against phishing attacks, reduces risk of account takeover, meets compliance requirements and it is easy to use. It is a proactive step to protect the sensitive information of its users and help them to secure their account.”
Alright, alright, we know this wasn’t the most engaging piece of content, but’s as far as ChatGPT goes, it’s definitely going to save the marketing team some time… Safe to say, they now think it’s worth the hype.
Time for the engineers to have a go?
