The Client.

Elevation Sales was founded in 2004 to facilitate the sales and distribution of film products. In 2007 the company was jointly acquired by Optimum Home Entertainment (since re-named Studio Canal) and Lionsgate UK and in that time, Elevation Sales has seen dynamic growth, swiftly establishing itself as one of the UK’s Top 10 Studios.

The Need.

Growing businesses need space and Elevation Sales needed to relocate, but moving offices and all associated equipment and services without disruption is not without its challenges. We worked with Elevation Sales to plan the move right down to the last detail, ensuring that every aspect was taken care of in the lead up to the move itself. The staff at Elevation left their office at the usual time on a Friday, and on arriving at the new office on Monday morning, they were able to start work extremely quickly.

The Solution.

As Elevation’s technology partner for over 10 years, we recommended replacing the server with a modern, energy efficient model that would support virtualisation, and moving their email to the cloud using Microsoft’s Office 365 service. For an organisation with standard security requirements like Elevation Sales, public cloud products such as Office 365 are a highly cost-effective solution. They offer users access to their email from anywhere and on any device, all for a monthly fee. Maintaining the organisation’s other business services on a virtualised server meant that each service would behave as a stand-alone server, despite all being hosted on the same piece of hardware. This means that rebooting the finance server or maintaining the CRM system would no longer affect any other business services.

How we did it

The process of migration always starts with a comprehensive audit to understand how many mailboxes exist in the organisation and what they are for, as well as which devices are currently used to access it.

Often the software on phones or tablets needs to be updated or configured to use Office 365, so it was important for us to understand Elevation’s email processes and user preferences. We then ensured that the synchronisation between the Elevation network and the cloud was in place before scheduling a convenient date and time to switch over to the cloud.

This is always done out of hours to minimise disruption, and our engineers were on site early the next morning to ensure that any teething issues were ironed out swiftly. We moved all the hardware over the weekend and made sure all the services were up and running, ensuring that everything was ready for the next working day.
